Norman "Doc" Zaffater, more commonly known as "ZaffDoc" on YouTube, was born on January 31, 1933 and passed away on April 1, 2012 due to health problems. Doc was one of the founders of the Signal 51 Group and its president for 43 years. He was an avid fire buff for 75 years. He also was a firefighter and EMT at Caddo Parish Fire District #5. Doc designed and maintained the first Signal 51 website many years ago and packed it full of historical information pertaining to Shreveport Fire Department, most of which is still there. The Shreveport Fire Department honored Doc by leading the funeral with Shreveport Fire Engine 7 all the way to the burial. On Doc's YouTube channel he received over 5.5 million views on his fire related videos. He will be missed greatly.
